FAQ's

You've got questions and we think that's awesome!  After all, we're all learners here.  Don't see an answer to your question? Just reach out through our Contact page, and we will be happy to answer it for you.

When do you release new curriculum?

It takes us no less than a year to produce a fully comprehensive curriculum for you.  Our material is developed and tested before being released to the public.  Generally, we release new products between May and June of each year.

We are working to build our team, but we are never more eager to sell a product than we are to create a fantastic one.

Who is Luminara's target audience?

We develop curriculum for grades 3-8.  Customers who will get the most out of their curriculum tend to be the families that enjoy excitement and a touch of silliness.  Parents will find that we encourage them to tap into their inner child and let a little bit of the crazy out.  Dressing up, role play, and being an active participant in a student's day will deliver the most magical experiences for everyone.  We are not a "worksheet and done" curriculum, nor do we fall into a slow-living category.  Luminara customers are looking for more: more learning, more fun, more magic for everyone.

How do I know what curriculum is being released?

We announce the upcoming theme selection around the same time that we release our new curriculum, typically May-June of each year.

Do you use AI to create your curriculum?

No.  Our curriculum is literature-based.  Your learners will begin by reading informative text from a book (or two), and then we follow up that information with engaging activities, games, exploration, or a project.

I have been writing and supplementing curriculum for over ten years.  It is a passion project and joy for me to share my creative work with you.

Why are some of your images AI?

In general, we prefer to use clipart or paintings, and images of the topic we're learning about.  However, at times, we have a very specific idea or theme we'd like to deliver, such as a cool-retro depiction of a planet to go along with a comic book activity.  Also, there is the case of copyright laws, making many images unavailable to us. In this case, we may rely on AI solutions.  We value the creative and artistic community, especially as parents of creative children.  However, as a start-up, it isn't always possible for us to hire a professional artist for original artwork.  Artists deserve to be paid well.  We are growing towards this, as well as building up our own content, and hope that you'll come along with us for the ride.

AI art does not replace educational material in our lessons.  It is used occasionally for visual effects only.  Primary sources, literature such as encyclopedias, and videos are the tools we use for educational purposes.

My AI scanner gave you a high score.

Well, we don't know how to tell you this, but we think your scanner is broken.  As creatives, we take pride in our work and occasionally use AI Images for visual effects, but we do not use AI for our text.  Additionally, your lessons are literature-based, meaning the core context is found in one of the curriculum spine books that are purchased separately.

We use Canva to build our materials, and spend no less than a full year creating them.  We definitely don't want to let AI take the credit for our awesomeness.

Is your curriculum accredited?

No, Luminara School of Wonder is not accredited at this time.  We have many goals for our future, and this is one of them.  However, we also appreciate our position outside of the box and would not be willing to compromise our unique approach to become accredited.  We have this opinion because in our many years of homeschooling and putting children through college, we've come to realize that accreditation before high school, unless required by the state, is not necessary.

Do you offer printed curriculum?

We are working on this!  We understand that printing pages can be costly and not suitable for every family.  We have plans to advance this phase of our business by 2026.
